I loooooovvveee to read, but my issue is prioritizing reading over the bajillions of other things I have going on in my life. During the summer I catch up on all the reading I missed during the year while I am at the beach, pool, waiting in car pick up lines, rocking a baby to sleep, or during commercial breaks. I recently bought a kindle on Amazon Prime day and it has allowed me to read SO much more and I bring it everywhere with me so I can sneak in a few pages at any given moment. Ok so here is what I have read this summer…
- Truly Madly Guilty – Liane Moriarty
Honestly, didn’t love this one. There was way too much buildup to get to the main conflict of the story that I got bored by the time it was revealed. I didn’t like how it went back and forth from past to present because it seemed like a waste of time. I really wanted to love it because it came so highly recommended, but I found it underwhelming.
- Never Never Series – Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher
This was the series I bought on my kindle and LET ME TELL YOU…AMAZING. It was a mix of thriller and romance. It kept me captivated the whole time. The ending was not as dramatic as I expected, but definitely satisfies the reader.
- Behind Her Eyes – Sarah Pinborough
One of my favorite things to do is go to Barnes & Nobles and raid the clearance fiction section. All books are pretty much under $7 and they have a vast selection, but it does not feel too overwhelming. Behind Her Eyes is one I picked up here because it was a thriller/romance. (If you haven’t already figured it out, this is my favorite genre). I had no expectations but DAMN did this book deliver. It was a twisted love story that held my attention until the very last page. Seriously the ending is so insane you cannot miss out on this one.
- Love Me With Lies Series – Tarryn Fisher
This series contains three books. The Opportunist, Dirty Red, and Thief. I decided to take on this series because Tarryn Fisher is a similar author to my absolute all time favorite author, the amazing Colleen Hoover. Since I have read all of Colleen’s books, I decided to venture out to one of her former co-authors. There is a love triangle going on in this series, and each individual book is told from the perspective of one of the members of the triangle. I flew threw this series and was very happy with my decision to read it. It is full of romance, twists and turns, and deceit. I recommend.
- Verity – Colleen Hoover
As soon as Colleen Hoover announced she was coming out with a new book, I pre-ordered it. I read Verity in two sittings, it was that good. This book shows a more edgy side of Colleen that I LOVE. She is dipping her toes into the thriller/mystery genre. Of course she includes her signature romance plot, but there is so much more to this book. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of Verity – my friend and I are still arguing about the ending.
- The Husband’s Secret – Liane Moriarty
This is my next read – I’ll keep you updated!
Hope this offers some inspiration for summer – or any other season – reads. Let me know your thoughts if you have read any of these books, and please fill me in on your recs!
